Batch Traceability and Recall Readiness for Dental Products
Traceability should connect every distributed unit to the materials, process, packaging and decisions behind its batch.
Traceability should connect every distributed unit to the materials, process, packaging and decisions behind its batch.
Connect supplier lots, internal material IDs, manufacturing batch, bulk container, filling record, packaging components, label revision and distribution. Decide how rework, split batches and locally finished units are represented.
The batch or lot identifier should remain readable through normal handling and be present where the agreed market presentation requires it. For unlabelled supply, determine how identification is retained until local branding is complete.
Record issued, produced, sampled, rejected, destroyed and released quantities. Reconciliation can expose mix-ups, loss or unrecorded units. Tolerances and investigation triggers should be defined for the process.
Know which customer received which batch, quantity and date. If the partner completes final packaging, agree how downstream distribution information can be retrieved when necessary. Traceability across organizations belongs in the supply agreement.
Define who assesses a field issue, who communicates with customers and authorities, and who authorizes action. Contact lists, templates and product information should be available before an incident occurs.
Run a mock traceability or recall exercise using a selected batch. Measure how quickly the team can identify inputs, inventory and recipients. Record gaps and corrective actions; a procedure is not proven until it is exercised.
